On September 7th and 8th, 2024, the village of Bernbeuren in southern Germany once again transformed into a haven for fans of historic motorsport. The 4th Auerberg Klassik attracted over 220 vintage motorcycle enthusiasts, showcasing rare race motorcycles, sidecars, and a bunch of historic race cars from.
Among the highlights were Jack Brabham’s 1962 Formula 1 car and Michael Schumacher’s 1990 Formula 3 championship-winning vehicle, besides BMW M1 Procar, Porsche 911/914, Mercedes Gullwing 300 SL, RUF CR520, Schnitzer BMW 3L CSL, and some more beauties. Motorsport legends like Toni Mang and Helmut Dähne added an extra layer of excitement to the event.
In addition to thrilling vehicle presentations and exhibitions from renowned museums Deutsches NSU- and Motorradmuseum, TOP Mountain Motorcycle Museum Timmelsjoch and private patrons, a “Best-Dressed” competition brought timeless elegance to the festivities. The event also prioritized sustainability, with participants using CO₂-neutral fuels by Coryton.
The coveted title of “Bergkönig 2024” (King of the Mountain) was claimed by Philipp Bergmann, achieving an impressive time difference of just 2.058 seconds ahead of Marcus Wimmer (#137) with 2.678 seconds and Erich Reitebuch (#42) with 2.857 seconds at the Auerberg. Special recognition also goes to Marianne Ruf (#155), who claimed the title of “Bergkönigin 2024” as the top female competitor, achieving a time difference of 7.656 seconds, ahead of Nuria Alder (#93) with 11.513 seconds and Sonja Winkler (#54) with 13.811 seconds. The competition consisted of six timed runs, with one result being dropped to determine the final standings.
